Six people were detained on drug-law offences in a PDI operation in Boca Sur, a
neighbourhood of San Pedro de la Paz in Chile’s Biobío region.[1] Five of the
detainees are Chilean and one is a foreign national.[1] The operation was run
by the PDI’s Modelo Territorial Cero (MT-0) unit of the Concepción criminal
investigation brigade, with the Concepción prosecutor’s office, after
information from the Denuncia Seguro tip-off programme.[1] Detectives
identified two drug sales points and searched both properties under judicial
entry, search and seizure orders.[1]
Officers found 115 grams of cannabis in the homes.[1] The total drug seizure
was 870.60 grams, including 412.81 grams of cocaine hydrochloride and 342.79
grams of cocaine base.[1] Police also seized 866,110 pesos in cash, two
digital scales and a car held by court order.[1] They found two metal pieces
that could be components of a homemade shotgun, whose nature is to be
established by forensic tests.[1]
One of the searched homes was close to an early-childhood education centre.[2]
Police described the area as a priority neighbourhood of San Pedro de la Paz.[1] The six detainees were placed at the disposal of the San Pedro de la Paz
Juzgado de Garantía, or guarantee court, for a custody hearing while the
judicial process continues.[1]
