Berdychiv investigators notified two convicts of suspicion for distributing
drugs inside the correctional facility.[1] The two are residents of Sumy
region who are serving sentences in the Berdychiv correctional centre.[2] The
men are aged 41 and 31 and had been convicted repeatedly before.[1] Both
suspects are now in custody after a court ordered detention without bail.[1]
They face up to 10 years in prison.[1]
The men received methadone and cannabis in postal parcels hidden among everyday
items.[2] They sold what they received to other convicts inside the facility.[1] Officers documented several such sales.[1] In late August the men planned
to receive another batch containing methadone plus dimedrol and zopiclone.[1]
A courier they hired threw the package over the correctional centre fence.[1]
Staff found the package and police seized it for expert examination.[1] In
late October officers shut down the scheme.[1] Searches of the suspects
quarters seized drugs, almost 10,000 hryvnias, phones, computer equipment, notes
and bank cards.[1]
Investigators notified both men of suspicion under Ukraines Criminal Code
articles on purchase, storage and sale of narcotics and attempted purchase and
storage of potent medicines for sale.[1] The case was uncovered jointly by
regional strategic-investigations officers, Berdychiv district police, the
correctional centre and the penitentiary service.[1]

No cannabis-only weight was published and seized narcotics were reported together with methadone, so no kilogram figure can be recorded.
The almost 10,000 hryvnias is seized cash, not a valuation of cannabis, so no value figure is recorded.
The articles give 3 November 2026 publication dates with late-August and late-October episodes, but no separate date for the searches or suspicion notices, so 3 November is used as the incident date.
Both reports relay the police account and name no defence response; Suspilne notes it is ready to publish the position of those involved.
A September case and a November 2025 Raikivska colony case mentioned in the same article are separate events left out of this report.
Holosiivskyi investigators completed the case against a 33-year-old Kyiv woman accused of selling PVP, amphetamine and cannabis hidden in 11 postal parcels among clothing. Detained during a curfew stop and held in custody, she was sent for trial and faces up to 12 years with confiscation.
Police in Uzhhorod detained two men accused of selling methamphetamine and seized methamphetamine, marijuana, ecstasy-like tablets and about 1,000 rounds in court-authorised searches. Both suspects were notified of suspicion under Ukraine's drug-trafficking article and ordered held in custody with bail available.
Police in Kharkiv Oblast have notified a 60-year-old man that he is suspected of illegally growing cannabis after officers seized more than 30 plants from his household plot in September 2026. Investigators say he found the plants growing wild on his land and watered and fertilised them through the summer.
Ukraine’s Supreme Court overturned a 17,000-hryvnia cannabis conviction and closed the case after ruling police exceeded a phone-only search warrant. The court found the 11.6 grams of cannabis and related expert evidence inadmissible as the product of a “blind search”.
