British Columbia’s Community Safety Unit conducted enforcement action at four warehouses in Richmond, Vancouver and Vernon, the province announced on 15 July 2026, seizing cannabis plants, dried cannabis and cannabis edibles.[1] The initial estimate of the seized cannabis was nearly $8 million, an amount the province said could change after further processing.[1]
The enforcement actions took place over the period since May 2026, with support from the Richmond and Vernon RCMP detachments and the Vancouver Police Department.[1] Operators found to be selling or producing unregulated cannabis may face administrative monetary penalties, which the province posts publicly when imposed.[1] No arrests or charges were announced, and the province said the matter was subject to further investigation, so no more information could be provided.[1]
The Richmond News reported the four raids as the source of the $8-million total, including a warehouse in Richmond.[2] The Community Safety Unit enforces the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act and can inspect premises without a warrant, seize and destroy cannabis, obtain search warrants, issue demands for information and seek injunctions in the Supreme Court of B.C.[1] Since 2018, it says it has seized more than $43.84 million in cannabis, disrupted 1,068 websites and conducted 123 enforcement actions, and that 238 unlicensed stores came into compliance after 370 educational visits, figures it gives as of 30 April 2026.[3]
