Warla police in Barwani district, Madhya Pradesh, seized 1,716 green cannabis plants from a field at Borpadwa village.[1] The person accused of growing the crop was absconding, and police reported no arrest.[1] Sendhwa sub-divisional police officer Ajay Waghmare disclosed the raid on Sunday 1 November.[1]

Police said the plants weighed 4 quintals 19 kg, or 419 kg.[1] Police estimated their market value at about 41 lakh rupees.[1] A case was registered under Sections 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, India’s drug law.[1] Amar Ujala dated the raid to 31 October 2026 and reported that Warla and Silawad police carried out separate raids that day.[2] Its Barwani report gave the same figures for the field: 1,716 plants, 4 quintals 19 kg and an estimated 41 lakh rupees.[2]

Warla police acted on an informer’s tip received on 31 October.[1] Station house officer Narayan Rawal informed senior officers, and a special team was formed from the Sendhwa city, Sendhwa rural and Warla police stations.[1] Officers searched the field and the surrounding area with a drone.[1] Police said they were checking forest department topography and revenue records to identify those involved, and were raiding possible locations to arrest the absconding men.[1] Khulasa First reported that the raid was carried out on the instructions of superintendent of police in charge Vinod Singh and under SDOP Waghmare’s guidance.[3]

The raid was part of Operation Green Strike, the district campaign against illegal narcotics cultivation.[1] Police said the campaign would continue.[1]
