Police in Kabupaten Bandung arrested a man they identified as AR, 27, on
suspicion of dealing cannabis.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] They detained him at his rented room in
Kampung Cikanyang Kidul, Dayeuhkolot, on Wednesday 28 October 2026.[1]
Officers seized 12 kilograms of cannabis that police said had been sent from
Medan and secured in the Kiaracondong area.[1][2][7] The case began with drug
transactions police detected at Kiaracondong bus terminal in Bandung city.[1]
Bandung police chief Commissioner Tri Suhartanto announced the case at a press
conference on 30 October.[1][3][6] He said AR was suspected of planning to send the
cannabis to someone inside a prison, known in Indonesia as a lapas.[1] Police
said they were still investigating the distribution route and others involved.[1][9][6]
Police said AR was paid Rp2 million for the job.[9][4] IDN Times reported the
payment as Rp2 million for each kilogram he distributed.[1] AR told police
this was his second run; on the first he carried a suitcase with about 6
kilograms of cannabis.[9] Police said he also consumed cannabis, brewing it as
a tea.[9][3][6][10][11] He told them he had not drunk the brew before officers arrived.[9]
Police charged AR under Articles 114(2) and 111(2) of the 2009 Narcotics Law.[1][2][3][4][5][6][11] The offences carry up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp10
billion.[1][9][2]

Officers went to Jalan Kiara Condong No. 411 in Kiaracondong, Bandung city, at about 04:00 on Thursday 29 October 2026.[3][4][5][6][11][8] There they found a purple suitcase holding 12 packages of cannabis weighing about 12 kilograms.[3][4][5][6][11][8] Police suspect a man identified as ALF alias BU controlled the distribution from inside a lapas, an Indonesian prison.[3][4][5][6][11] AR told police that ALF alias BU ordered him to collect and store the cannabis packages.[3][4][11] Police estimated the market value of the 12 kilograms at Rp250 million.[3][4][5][6][11][8]
At the rented room, officers found two black plastic bags and a teapot holding dried stems and branches believed to be cannabis, one rolled joint and a red iPhone.[4] Police put ALF alias BU, the suspected controller, on their wanted list and said they were hunting him.[4]
The arrest took place at about 19:00 on 28 October 2026.[5][6][7][11]
