Lueng Bata police arrested a 43-year-old man, identified only as AD, for secretly growing dozens of cannabis plants in his neighbour’s yard in Gampong Batoh, Banda Aceh.[1] AD, who had tended the narcotic crop since August 2026, was caught red-handed watering the forbidden plants on Tuesday 13 October.[1]

Police seized 21 suspected cannabis plants from the yard: 16 in polybags and five planted directly in the ground.[1] The case broke when the yard’s owner, 52-year-old Edi Mareansyah, grew suspicious of what was growing in his yard.[1] At first Edi did not know what AD had planted, but as the plants grew he suspected cannabis.[1]

Edi reported the find to local village officials, who came to the yard around 2 p.m. the same day and found AD watering the suspected cannabis.[1] AD was arrested and taken to Lueng Bata station around 3 p.m.; police processed the scene, secured the suspect and the evidence, and are gathering statements for the investigation.[1] Kapolsek AKP Jufri spoke for the operation under city police chief Kombes Teguh Priyambodo Nugroho.[1]
