Avellino’s investigating judge ordered three men under investigation for alleged drug dealing to observe a residence requirement in their home municipalities.[1] The order requires them not to leave home from 19:00 to 07:00 the next day.[1] Finance police officers of Avellino’s provincial command executed the order.[1] The three are seriously suspected of possessing drugs for the purpose of dealing.[1] Two recipients are brothers with prior convictions for similar offences who allegedly called drugs melanzane, meaning aubergines, to make references less explicit.[1] One of the two brothers remains in prison, with no explanation published of how that detention relates to the new residence measure.[1] The allegations remain provisional and those concerned are presumed innocent until any final conviction.[2]
Investigators say the inquiry began with hashish seizures from several buyers.[1] Avellino Guardia di Finanza’s Mobile Unit then continued with technical checks and further drug finds.[1] In February 2025 investigators seized about 350 grams of cocaine, 2 kilos of hashish and 650 grams of marijuana, plus packaging material.[2] Part of the drugs had been hidden in a buried hatch and inside a disused vehicle near the two brothers’ home in Aiello del Sabato.[3] The find led to the arrest in flagrante of the two brothers, both now among the recipients of the residence order.[1] A dog unit from Capodichino with two handlers and the dog Lyan took part in the search.[1]
Investigators describe the evidence as pointing to intense dealing in the Avellino hinterland involving several people.[1] The Avellino prosecution presents the operation as joint work with the Guardia di Finanza against dealing and related criminal proceeds.[3]
