On Thursday 13 August 2026 a joint team found nine cannabis plots covering about four
hectares on the hills of Teupin Reusep village, Sawang district, North Aceh, and
destroyed about 17,000 plants on site.[1][2]
ANTARA said Lhokseumawe police, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and customs took
part, put two suspected plantation owners on the wanted list and did not arrest anyone
at the scene.[1] Indonesia’s customs service in Aceh said the operation followed
surveillance by Lhokseumawa police narcotics detectives, that plants ranged from seedlings
to crops about two months old nearing harvest, and that two people suspected of planting
and managing the fields were absent and still being pursued.[2]
Photographs from the day show officers carrying uprooted plants, moving through a hillside
plantation and burning cannabis at Teupin Reusep.[1]
The same village saw larger BNN-led eradications later in 2026; this report covers only
the 13 August joint operation.[1][2]
