A Voi court sentenced a man to 10 years in prison after finding him guilty of trafficking 9.3 kg of cannabis sativa valued at Sh279,000 in Taita Taveta County.[1][2]

Daudi Kalamba was sentenced by Principal Magistrate Hosea Mwangi with the option of a Sh1 million fine, convicted under Section 4(a)(ii) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (Control) Act.[1][2] The case arose on June 15, 2026, after Kamtonga Police Station officers received information that Kalamba was allegedly cultivating suspect plants; the prosecution led by Counsel Nelson Ogeto proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.[2]
