Local police in Vila-seca arrested two men on suspicion of a crime against public health, Spain’s drug-trafficking offence, after stopping a rental car early on Thursday 29 October 2026.[1] Officers pulled the vehicle over at about 1.30 am in Plaça de Ramon Muntaner, found its documents in order and identified the driver and his passenger, then noticed a strong smell of drugs.[1] One of the two was already listed in police databases in connection with a suspected crime against public health in Reus, which prompted officers to search the men and inspect the car.[1]

The search turned up foil-wrapped packets, some inside a tobacco pouch and others in a small wallet under the passenger seat.[1] In all, officers seized 19 wrappers of hashish and marijuana and €300 in cash in small-denomination notes.[1] One of the men also handed over a small piece of hashish from his jacket pocket, and other sums of cash were found among the men’s belongings.[1] The local police said the presentation of the substances, together with the split bills, was an indication that they could be intended for sale rather than personal use.[1] The car was towed to the municipal depot.[1]
