Acting on intelligence that a truck carrying ganja from Nepal would enter
Uttar Pradesh through Sonauli, DRI officers in Gorakhpur ran a coordinated
surveillance operation with teams in Lucknow, Patna and Varanasi during 17-18
October.[1][2] After more than four hours of tracking, they stopped the truck
on the road between Gorakhpur and Kushinagar.[1][2]
The search exposed specially fabricated cavities built into the truck to hide
the contraband from Nepal.[1][2] Officers seized the full 591.3 kg consignment
together with the truck under the NDPS Act, 1985.[1][2] The reports name no
arrests.[1][2]
