A joint team of the STF narcotics cell and Sugauli police arrested three alleged
charas traffickers in East Champaran.[1] The first man held was identified as
35-year-old Guddu Sah of Nayka Tola in the Rajepur station area, whose
questioning named Ramabalak Baitha, linked to Lakshmipur in Sikta and Gandak
Chowk in Birgunj, Nepal, and Dhoda Rai of Mahuai in Ghorasahan.[2] Police
arrested Baitha and Rai in follow-up raids.[2] Police sent all three to jail
after completing legal formalities.[2]
Officers found 1.970 kg of a charas-like substance in four packets inside a bag
carried by the first suspect.[2] Police put the international-market value of
the seized charas, a cannabis resin, at about Rs 40 lakh.[1] Police also
seized two mobile phones and three Nepali SIM cards from the three accused.[2]
The STF narcotics cell in Patna had tipped police that a man carrying narcotics
had left Raxaul and would travel via the Sugauli overbridge toward the station.[2] A team led by Sadar SDPO Dilip Kumar began vehicle checks under the Bangra
overbridge, chased down a suspect who tried to flee on seeing police and
searched his bag in the presence of the BDO.[2] Police said questioning has
produced leads on the supply syndicate’s main kingpin and further raids are
continuing.[2]
