On Sunday 18 October 2026, national security units in Sousse city arrested a man they suspected of drug trafficking.[1][2] Tunisie Numérique said the arrest followed an ambush.[1] La Presse, citing a security source, said it followed field inquiries.[2]

Officers seized 29 slabs of cannabis resin, which La Presse called zatla.[1][2] Both reports say he had been expected to sell the resin to young people, including pupils and students in the Sousse area, and that he used a private car, which was also seized.[1][2] Tunisie Numérique said the search for other suspects was continuing.[1] La Presse said the precise circumstances and any court outcome had not been given.[2]
