Civil police arrested a 47-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman at a house in
the Progresso neighbourhood of São Bento do Sul, in Santa Catarina, on the
afternoon of Thursday 29 October 2026.[1]The operation was carried out by the
Delegacia de Investigação Criminal (DIC), the city’s criminal investigation
unit, with support from the Delegacia de Polícia da Comarca, the police station
for the local court district.[1][2]The arrests came during the execution of a
search and seizure warrant issued after a police investigation.[3][2]
Inside the house officers found cannabis plants, cultivation supplies and
portions of the drug ready for use or sale.[4][2]Officers found three complete
grow tents fitted with running electronic equipment for drying and processing
the plant.[1][2]They also seized a precision scale and packaging used to portion
the drug.[4][2]More than R$14,000 in cash was seized.[4][2]Mobile phones and
notebooks were also seized and sent for forensic examination with the rest of
the material.[1]
Both were arrested in flagrante, caught in the act, on suspicion of drug
trafficking.[4][2]After a body-of-offence examination, they were to be taken to
the prison system, where they would stay at the disposal of the court awaiting a
custody hearing.[1]

No count of the cannabis plants or weight for the processed cannabis was published, so the report records no plant or kilogram figure.
The cash is given only as more than R$14,000, with no exact amount.
No charging decision, court date or outcome after the custody hearing was reported.
Police did not name the couple or the street in the Progresso neighbourhood.
Nossas Notícias and Perfil Multi ran a lead photo without a caption or credit, and it could not be confirmed as a different image from the Gazeta handout, so only the Gazeta photo is listed.
This account says officers seized one notebook, while the existing report, citing another outlet, says notebooks were seized.
This account does not mention a body-of-offence examination before the couple was to be taken to prison.
The page's lead image is captioned only with the headline and has no credit, so it was not added as a confirmed photo of the raid; the other image shows the municipal chamber, not the operation.
