On 25 September 2025, Saintes criminal court sentenced two men from Bordeaux, aged 23 and 21, to
three years in prison, two of them on probation, for transporting cannabis.[1][2] Each was also
fined 10,340 euros—ten euros per gram seized—and banned from Charente-Maritime.[1][2]
La Rochelle customs had stopped their Renault on the Saint-Léger rest area of the A10 on 30 January
2025 and found 1,034 g of cannabis on the back seat.[1] Customs said the herb tested at 18–20%
THC.[1] The driver told the court he had been paid 200 euros to move the package from Bordeaux to
Saintes; the passenger changed his story about whether he knew why they were travelling.[1][2]
The prosecutor said the pair had acted for money, and the court followed her request for matching
three-year terms with two years on probation.[1]
