On 20 July 2024, during a parloir visit at Caen-Ifs prison in Calvados, staff saw a
30-year-old detainee hide something in his underwear as he left a meeting with his
mother.[1][2] They searched him and seized 35.1 g of cannabis resin and a SIM card
in plastic wrap.[1][2]
He said the cannabis was not for his own use but to settle a debt to another prisoner,
and refused to say more for fear of reprisals.[2] He told the court he had since
stopped using cannabis when his son was born and had repaid the debt with cigarettes.[2]
Judged by video link on Thursday 29 January 2026, he was sentenced to six months in
prison on top of his existing term, with 254 euros in court costs.[2] The prosecutor
had asked for six months, noting that 35 g carries weight inside a prison.[1][2]
