Quebec’s provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec, carried out searches in Saint-Théodore-d’Acton, Drummondville and Trois-Rivières on Wednesday 28 October 2026.[1] They searched five homes and farm fields and three vehicles.[1] Three men — one aged 31 and two aged 46 — were arrested, interviewed and released.[2] Police said they could eventually face cannabis-smuggling charges.[1]

Officers seized more than 600 cannabis plants, about 1,950 kg of dried cannabis buds and nearly 6 kg of hashish.[2] They also found about 480 methamphetamine tablets and seized four vehicles as offence-related property.[1] About 60 police officers took part in the operation.[2] The warrants were executed by MRC d’Acton officers, the Escouade régionale mixte (ERM, a joint regional squad), Trois-Rivières police and road controllers from the transport ministry (MTMD).[3]

The searches followed an investigation opened in summer 2026 into a criminal organisation of producers said to work under the cover of several Health Canada medical cannabis production certificates.[2] The operation was run under ACCES-Cannabis (Actions concertées pour contrer les économies souterraines), a provincial programme set up in 2018 to fight cannabis smuggling at every stage of the supply chain, from illegal production to neighbourhood dealing.[2] The Sûreté du Québec gave no market value for the drugs and did not say how the quantities were divided among the three municipalities.[1]
