Sûreté du Québec officers from the Maria-Chapdelaine detachment searched a home on rue Renaud in Dolbeau-Mistassini on 29 October 2026.[1][2] The 52-year-old woman who lived there was arrested and questioned, then released pending further proceedings.[1][2] The operation was carried out with police from the Mashteuiatsh public security service.[3][2]

Officers seized more than 100 grams of illicit cannabis and more than 100 grams of edible cannabis.[1][2] They also seized cocaine, more than 100 methamphetamine tablets, magic mushrooms and nearly C$3,000 in cash.[1][2] No charge had been filed; police said charges related to drug trafficking could be laid against the woman.[4][2]

The Sûreté du Québec said the search was carried out under ACCES-Cannabis, a programme to reduce the availability of illicit cannabis on the Quebec market, especially among young people, and to reduce the unfair competition that illegal producers and traffickers pose to the SQDC, Quebec’s provincially owned cannabis retailer.[1] The force asked anyone with information about drug trafficking or production to contact its criminal information centre confidentially.[1]
