Police in Rio Branco, the capital of Acre, arrested Daniel Ferreira de Oliveira on the night of Thursday 29 October 2026 with about 2 kg of cannabis in an apartment on Rua Vitória, in the Macauã neighbourhood in the upper part of the city.[1] He was wearing an electronic ankle bracelet and was booked for drug trafficking.[2] Acre Alerta reported that he was already facing a drug-trafficking case.[3]

The arrest was made by the Batalhão de Operações Especiais (Bope), the state military police’s special operations battalion, through its Rotam and Giro units, after intelligence from Bope and the Grupo Especial de Operações em Fronteira (Gefron), a border operations unit.[2] According to information given to the police, Daniel received drugs from Bolivia at the business where he worked, on Avenida dos Ipês at the corner of Rua Três in the same neighbourhood, and took them to the apartment.[4]

Officers found him sitting by the entrance next to a washing tank, with a backpack nearby.[2] Inside were two packages of a substance resembling cannabis.[2] During the arrest he suddenly broke his own mobile phone, which police said appeared to be an attempt to block access to the information stored on it.[2] He was taken with the drug to the specialised police station, and the Civil Police will investigate.[2]
