Police in Pyatigorsk detained a 22-year-old local man suspected of distributing drugs.[1] Drug-control officers stopped him on a city street after he tried to flee when he saw them, throwing away a polymer bag.[1] An examination showed the bag held more than 87 grams of marijuana.[1] He was taken to the police station.[2]

A search of the kitchen in his home found a plastic jar containing marijuana, electronic scales and zip-lock bags.[2] He told officers he sold the drug through a messaging app, leaving it in hidden stash points known as zakladki.[1] He had done this for about a month, not only in Pyatigorsk but in other settlements of the Caucasian Mineral Waters (KMV) resort area.[3]

The investigative department of the Pyatigorsk police opened two criminal cases for attempted illegal sale of narcotics and combined them into one proceeding.[2] The charge covers sale through the internet by a group acting in prior collusion in a significant amount.[2] Police said they were still establishing the circumstances and possible accomplices.[3]
