Police dug out an underground cannabis farm behind a house on the Sint Laurensstraat in Demen, a village in the municipality of Oss, on the evening of Monday 12 October 2026, finding 700 cannabis plants, the outlets 112Brabant and Omroep Brabant reported.[1][2][3]

The police already suspected a grow at the spot and were right when officers went to look; agents, firefighters, grid operator Enexis, water company Brabant Water and the municipality worked on the site for hours, the electricity and gas supplies were cut, fire crews pumped water away, and staff of the specialist firm Strukton pulled the plants, shredding them on site and carting the remains off in containers.[1][4][3] A sports car and a van on the property were seized.[1][3]

Neighbours said they had noticed nothing of a farm they were told lay under the garden pond, reachable through a hatch by the shed — details the police did not confirm; the couple who live in the house were said to be on holiday, and their son came to move the pond’s fish into a container at the police’s request.[4] Police said on Tuesday 13 October that nobody had yet been arrested.[2][4]
