Border police at Nădlac, working with organised-crime officers in Arad under DIICOT prosecutors, caught a 21-year-old passenger on an international coach from Spain on the evening of 12 October 2026.[1][2] He was carrying more than seven kilograms of cannabis meant for sale, the Romanian Border Police said.[1]

On 13 October DIICOT-Arad ordered his detention for international and domestic trafficking in risk drugs and asked the Arad rights court to hold him in preventive arrest for 30 days.[1][2] Mediafax reported the same route and quantity and said the man had been taken into custody on Tuesday after the Monday night stop.[2]

Both releases stressed that suspects remain presumed innocent with full procedural guarantees.[1][2]
