Ingulsky District Court in Mykolaiv sentenced a local resident to nine years in prison for growing cannabis on his household plot and storing dried, ground cannabis in the attic of his house.[1] He was charged under part 3 of Article 307 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code for illegally making and storing drugs for sale on an especially large scale and part 1 of Article 310 for illegally sowing or growing cannabis.[1] The court remanded him in custody with the option of posting bail.[1] At trial he partly admitted guilt, conceding that he grew cannabis and made the drug but insisting it was only for personal use and not for sale.[1] Mykolaivska Pravda gives the same account, reporting that the Ingulsky court found him guilty of illegal cultivation and of making and storing cannabis for sale.[2]

The court established that he had grown cannabis at his home since April 2026 and that a 25 July search recovered 14 cannabis plants and more than 8 kilograms of cannabis kept in the attic.[1] The second account adds that he dried part of the drug in an outbuilding and kept part in glass jars in the attic and the summer kitchen.[2] The court dismissed his personal-use claim as an attempt to avoid criminal responsibility given the especially large quantity seized.[1] It also took into account that he had previously served five years in prison for growing cannabis.[1]

The court found him guilty as charged and imposed nine years’ imprisonment without confiscation of property.[1] It ordered the seized cannabis plants and cannabis destroyed and 28,400 hryvnias in expert-examination costs recovered from the convict.[1] The 133,120-hryvnia bail posted for him is to be returned to his brother after the verdict enters into force, and the verdict can be appealed to the Mykolaiv Appeal Court within 30 days.[1]
