The Khust District Court sentenced a 33-year-old resident of Khust to five years in prison for growing cannabis at home.[1] He remains in custody until the verdict takes legal effect.[1] Prosecutors from the Khust District Prosecutor’s Office brought the case.[2][1] Both reports carry the account published by the Zakarpattia regional prosecutor’s office.[2][1]

Police arrested him in July 2026.[2][1] In court, prosecutors proved that in the spring of 2026 he had illegally sown and grown cannabis.[2][1] He fitted a greenhouse with irrigation and ventilation and tended the plants.[2][1] He grew some of them in pots in the yard.[2][1]

Searches found and seized about 240 cannabis plants.[2][1] An expert examination confirmed that the plants contained narcotic substances.[2][1] In the house, officers also found dried cannabis, electronic scales, packaging bags and devices for smoking.[2][1] The court found him guilty of illegally sowing and growing 50 or more cannabis plants, and of illegally making and keeping narcotics without intent to sell.[2][1]

Банош published a prosecutor’s office photograph of tall flowering plants in pots inside the greenhouse.[1]
