Civil Lines police in Moradabad arrested the suspect near the trisection by the football ground in Railway Harthala Colony on Saturday 31 October 2026.[1] Police identified him as Maujjam, son of Babu Khan, a resident of Tajpur Mafi under Katghar police station.[2] The case began with a complaint on 26 October from a woman living in the Majhola police area.[1] She said a bike-borne man had snatched the earrings from her ears near the Kapoor Company bridge and fled.[1] Police said he admitted his involvement in the snatching.[1]
Officers recovered 1.112 kg of charas, the looted earrings and other jewellery, an Apache motorcycle and ₹1,600 in cash from him.[1] He told officers he bought and sold charas and had gone out on the night between Friday and Saturday to sell more than a kilogram.[2] Police said he admitted stealing the Apache motorcycle near Rampur jail on 23 October.[1] They said he used that motorcycle in the earring snatching.[1]
SP City Ranvijay Singh announced the arrest at a press conference at the police lines.[1] Police said theft, robbery and NDPS cases were already registered against him at police stations in Moradabad and Rampur.[1] Civil Lines police added section 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita to an existing case and sent him to jail, Young Bharat News reported.[2] Police said they were still examining his criminal history and his role in other incidents.[1]
