Chennai Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit stopped a man aged about 30 who had arrived from Bangkok at Chennai International Airport after he tried to leave without reporting for customs inspection.[1] The flight from Bangkok landed at midnight, according to Dinakaran.[2][3] The man gave contradictory answers when officers questioned him.[2][3] A search of his suitcase found 10 airtight packets of processed, high-grade hydroponic cannabis.[1] Officers seized it and arrested him.[2][3]

Dinakaran put its value at ₹1.5 crore.[2][3]

Dinakaran reported that an international drug gang offered the man free flights abroad and sightseeing, and he travelled to Thailand on that promise.[2][3] Customs officials are investigating whether he was carrying the drugs for an international trafficking network.[1] They are also investigating who arranged the shipment, who was to receive it in Chennai and who sent him to Thailand.[1]
