Aurora police arrested 33-year-old Julio C. Chairez, described as an active gang member, on 27 October 2026 after a narcotics search in Montgomery.[1] A second Aurora resident, 33-year-old Keena L. Walker, was also arrested and charged with child endangerment and issued a notice to appear.[1] Chairez was charged with manufacture or delivery and possession counts for cocaine and cannabis, eight counts of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, and one count of possessing a firearm with a defaced serial number.[2] He remains in custody at the Kendall County Jail with his next court appearance scheduled for 6 November.[2]

Investigators with the Aurora Police Department’s Special Operations Group executed the warrant at about 7 p.m. in the 100 block of Hillstone Road in Montgomery as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.[2] Police said investigators recovered 128 grams of suspected cocaine, 585 grams of suspected cannabis and 251 grams of brownish powder that later field-tested positive for heroin and fentanyl, plus digital scales and packaging materials.[2] Police said they also recovered seven firearms, including a handgun with a defaced serial number and a sawed-off shotgun, plus ammunition and about $1,214 in cash.[1]

The Kendall County state’s attorney’s office filed the charges, and police said additional charges were pending over the powder that tested positive for heroin and fentanyl.[1] Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas said recovering the weapons and suspected narcotics was an important step in reducing risks from illegal distribution, and police said the investigation remains ongoing.[2]
