Officers from the Interior Ministry’s southern investigations directorate spent November 2025 documenting several people suspected of growing, holding and selling drugs in Cahul and Cantemir districts.[1][2] On 28 November they searched the homes of four people aged 39 to 53.[1][2]

Inside they found hydroponic drugs and dried hemp plants.[1][2] Police put the finished plant material at about seven kilograms and said it could have fetched more than two million lei on the black market.[1][2] The drugs were sent for expert analysis while investigators looked for other people involved.[2] Moldovan law allows three to seven years in prison for such offences if a court convicts.[1]
