Carabinieri stopped a 19-year-old in Bălți and found a plant substance that looked like hashish.[1] They sent him for a medical test, which confirmed he was under the influence of marijuana.[1] Officers drew up a protocol for an offence against him.[1]
The General Inspectorate of Carabinieri announced on 30 October that officers in northern Moldova had documented three cases linked to suspected drug possession and use, two in Bălți and one in Edineț.[1] The Bălți case of the 19-year-old was the second of those three.[1] Three men in Bălți and Edineț were reported detained on suspicion of storing and using drugs.[1]
In the first case, also in Bălți, carabinieri on patrol stopped a 23-year-old in a shelter belt and found a small packet of a white crystalline substance.[1] They thought it might be a drug of the PVP type, but said the exact composition had not been established and would need an expert examination.[1] The materials in that case were passed to the police for further inquiries.[1] In the third case, in Vasile Alecsandri park in Edineț, a mobile response team noticed a 28-year-old man with signs of drug intoxication.[1] He was sent for a check at Edineț district clinical hospital, the medical test was positive, and he was then handed to the police.[1]
The inspectorate said staff would continue patrolling public places and working to prevent offences that could threaten residents’ safety.[1]
