Badgonda police seized 210 green cannabis plants from a hillside field at Naharkhoh’s Telanbardi in Mhow on Thursday 29 October 2026.[1] The plants, known in Hindi as ganja, were growing among a crop of arhar, or pigeon pea, and officers walked about a kilometre to reach the field.[1] Police arrested Madan, 41, on suspicion of illegal cultivation in the field.[1] Police said he had no valid licence to grow cannabis.[1]

The seized plants weighed 67 kg 400 g, and police estimated their value at about 3 lakh rupees.[2] Station in-charge inspector Prakash Waskale led the team that searched the field after a tip-off.[2] Police registered a case against Madan under Section 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, India’s drug law, and said the investigation was continuing.[1]

The raid was part of a special campaign against illegal drug cultivation and trafficking that the narcotics branch of the Bhopal police headquarters began on 27 October.[1] Naharkhoh is a village in Mhow, in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh.[2] The operation was carried out under the direction of the Indore rural zone inspector general and other senior officers, with deputy superintendent Lalit Singh Sikarwar supervising.[2]
