Acting on a public tip about a drug deal in Panyabungan, the Mandailing Natal drug squad chief ordered a joint police-BNNK stakeout on the evening of 13 October.[1] Near the Darussalam sluice gate in East Panyabungan, the team spotted two men riding one motorbike toward Panyabungan town; when the bike did not stop, one rider threw a large black plastic bag onto the road and the chase was on.[1]
The pursuit ended in front of the Aek Galoga petrol station near Dr Epta hospital in Pidoli Lombang village around 19:30, where officers seized the rider while his companion fled into a rubber plantation and remains sought.[1] The discarded bag held 14 brown-wrapped balls of ganja weighing 13.7 kg gross; officers also took a black-red Honda Beat (BA 6683 AAU), its key and another large black plastic bag.[1]
The pair had reportedly picked up 22 balls in two bags from Huta Tua in East Panyabungan, so part of the load escaped with the fugitive.[1] The arrested man, 27-year-old Padang resident Randa Kurnia Putra, tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine and was taken to the Madina drug squad command for further process.[1]
