Peru’s defence ministry said on 30 June 2026 that the armed forces of Peru and Colombia had seized 9,229.1 kilograms of suspected cannabis sativa at Bellavista de Callarú, in the district of Ramón Castilla, Loreto.[1]

The Amazon Operational Command ran the operation through the joint PUMA command.[1] It brought in the Colombian navy, the Peruvian army, navy and air force, Dirandro, the national police anti-drug directorate, and the police frontier directorate.[1] The ministry described a river deployment in Mariscal Ramón Castilla province and said the load was handed at once to the competent authorities for the legal record, the chain of custody, and forensic tests of what the material was and where it came from.[1] In the same statement it said coca crops in that province now cover about 19,000 hectares.[1]

La República, citing the Amazon command, reported that officers had found the load at a stash point fitted with surveillance equipment, that it was linked to the armed group Comandos de Frontera, and that it had been bound for regional markets.[2] The ministry’s own text does not name that group or describe a stash point.[1] Neither account reports an arrest.[1][2]
