The NDLEA arrested 62-year-old Anetor Gloria Ubong, a Nigerian-American realtor living in Richmond, Texas, who holds Nigerian and US passports, after she arrived in Lagos aboard a United Airlines flight from Houston on Wednesday 21 October.[1][2] A search of her two checked-in suitcases found 9.45 kg of high-grade cannabis, known as loud, in 18 parcels hidden inside a box wrapped as a gift.[1][2]
Ubong reportedly told questioners that her daughter and the daughter’s future brother-in-law had delivered the box to her US home for onward delivery in Nigeria to her daughter’s fiance, identified as Jibola.[1][2] The agency did not say whether the daughter, the prospective brother-in-law or the intended recipient had been arrested or questioned.[1]
