Kuwait’s General Department for Drug Control arrested five suspects in four
separate cases involving trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances
and their use, the Interior Ministry said.[1] It announced them in a press
statement on Thursday 29 October 2026.[1] It said officers detained the five
in continuing security efforts against drug activity and against those involved
in it.[1] The ministry referred the suspects and the seized items to the
competent authorities for the necessary action.[1]
The only cannabis in the haul was 5 grams of hashish, listed among the seizures
from the four cases.[2] The other seizures were 4,000 capsules of Lyrica,
which the ministry described as psychotropic, 4 kilograms of Lyrica powder and
170 grams of shabu (methamphetamine).[1] Officers also seized 15 sheets of
paper soaked in a drug known locally as ‘chemical’ with 1 gram of the same
substance, 1 gram of cocaine and four precision scales.[1]

Open questions the AI reported
- The ministry gave no date for the arrests themselves; 29 October 2026 is the day it announced them.
- The ministry announced four separate cases together, so the drug figures are totals for all four rather than for one case.
- No names, ages or nationalities of the five suspects, and no street value for the drugs, were published.
- The statement does not say where in Kuwait the arrests took place or which of the four cases the 5 grams of hashish belonged to.
- The same ministry statement reported a security campaign in Jahra governorate and traffic campaigns against delivery riders, separate events left out of this report.
- Neither page carried a photograph that could be confirmed to show the seized items: Al-Rai's picture is of a government building, and Kuwait Times ran four uncaptioned images beside the drug item.
