Police in Ani sub-division in Kullu district raided a house and arrested one woman after recovering a large consignment of charas.[1] The arrested woman was identified as Jovandasi, wife of Gopal Singh and resident of Koot village, Ani.[1] The Ani sub-divisional detection cell acted after receiving intelligence that charas was stored in a house in Koot village under Ani police station.[1]
Police said they recovered 2.990 kg of charas from the woman in the house, seized the drug and took her into custody.[1] The headline describes the haul as charas worth lakhs of rupees, but the report gives no exact value.[1] A case against the woman was registered at Ani police station under Section 20 of the NDPS Act, India’s narcotics law.[1]
Police are questioning her to establish where the charas came from, why it was kept in the house and to whom it was to be supplied.[1] Investigators are examining whether the case links to a larger trafficking network.[1] Kullu district police said they act on secret information against trafficking and illegal sale and try to trace people involved in supply and distribution.[1]
