In late October, officers detained a 51-year-old resident of Kosteryovo on suspicion of unlawful drug trafficking.[1][2] The detention followed operational intelligence and involved the Petushinsky drug-control unit with Vladimir regional MVD drug-control and canine units, FSB colleagues and Rosgvardia special forces.[1] Investigators opened two criminal cases against the man under Russian Criminal Code possession and attempted large-scale sale provisions.[1][3][2] He was remanded in custody.[1][3][2]

Searches at his home and at the car-service premises he owns found more than 5 kg of plant material and over 60 grams of ready-to-use marijuana.[1][3][2] Officers also seized a mobile phone, scales and plant-grinding tools.[1][3] The detainee said he grew the cannabis for personal consumption.[1] Police said they had gathered evidence linking him to attempted cannabis sale.[1]

A regional outlet described bushes as well as ready-to-use marijuana at his home and car-service premises and put the total weight of seized plants at almost two kilograms.[4] The outlet said several agencies including a Rosgvardia special unit carried out the detention operation.[4] It quoted regional MVD spokeswoman Irina Gavrichenko confirming the two cases for possession, including of narcotic-containing plants, and preparation for sale.[4]

The total weight of seized narcotic-containing plants across the whole operation exceeded 1,800 grams.[3]
