Drug-control police in Stavropol Krai suspect a 37-year-old resident of Kochubeyevsky District of growing marijuana for his own use.[1] The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Stavropol said officers had information linking him to a crime.[1] They checked a workshop on the grounds of his house and found grey-green plant parts that looked like hemp, kept in a plastic jar and on a wooden shelf.[1] The owner said he had grown the drug in his yard and stored it for personal use.[1] An examination identified the seized drug as marijuana weighing 1.8 kilograms.[1]
Investigators opened a criminal case against him for illegal storage of narcotics in a large amount.[1] Stavropol police told Vecherny Stavropol the case was brought under part 2 of article 228 of the Criminal Code, which covers unlawful acquisition and storage of narcotics on a large scale.[2] He gave a confession, saying he had grown the drug-containing plants on his property and kept them for personal use.[2] The police examination put the seized narcotic at 1.8 kilograms in total.[2]
