Three people were arrested in a multi-agency crackdown on narcotics trafficking in Kiambu and Busia counties, with cannabis sativa recovered in separate coordinated operations targeting cultivation, possession and transportation.[1] The DCI announced the operations in a statement on its X account on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.[1]
In Kiambu East, detectives acting on intelligence raided a residential property at Runda Palm Garden, Thindigua, where a cannabis sativa plantation was found flourishing in an otherwise quiet neighbourhood; one person was arrested as the plants were secured as exhibits.[1]
In Ruiru, Gatong’ora station officers stinging narcotics in the Rainbow area arrested another person found with 80 rolls and a sachet of bhang, seized as exhibits while the source and distribution chain were investigated.[1] In Busia, officers intercepted a red TVS motorcycle at the Kenya-Uganda border carrying what looked like a sack of potatoes, inside which two cannabis consignments were concealed; the rider was arrested with bike and drugs secured.[1]
The three were being processed pending arraignment with the cannabis in police custody, as the DCI said operations continue countrywide to dismantle cultivation, trafficking and distribution networks.[1]
