Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested 59-year-old Miami resident Bradford Jonathan Smith on 1 November 2026 after a traffic stop near Mile Marker 101 in the Florida Keys.[1] Smith was charged with six counts: possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of undersized mangrove snapper, possession of over-the-limit mangrove snapper and possession of undersized mutton snapper.[1] He was taken to jail and booked into the Monroe County Jail.[1]

Deputies stopped Smith driving a Ford pickup truck at approximately 9:30 p.m. for an inoperable headlight and inoperable tag light.[1] Deputies reported a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, while Smith denied that drugs were in the vehicle.[1] A search found a baggie containing a small amount of cocaine in Smith’s pocket and 3.2 grams of marijuana in the vehicle.[1] A cooler in the truck contained 13 undersized mangrove snapper and one undersized mutton snapper.[1]

The cannabis component of this mixed drug-and-wildlife case is separately supported at 3.2 grams, while the cocaine and snapper quantities are not counted as cannabis.[2]
