Detectives seized 271.3 kg of cannabis from a car on the Chavakali–Kapsabet road in Kaimosi, Nandi Central sub-county, in operations the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reported on 24 July 2026.[1][2] Acting on a tip-off, officers ambushed a sky-blue Mazda CX-5 and found seven sacks of cannabis, which the DCI valued at about Sh13.4 million.[1][2] The driver and a passenger abandoned the vehicle and escaped, and police said they were pursuing them.[1][2]

In a separate operation at Ngariga Junction on the Nairobi–Nakuru highway in Kiambu county, Anti-Narcotics Unit and Transnational Organised Crime Unit detectives stopped a public service vehicle and arrested 32-year-old Francis Oteba after finding five bales of cannabis in a black bag.[1][2]

In Kisii county, detectives arrested Nancy Moraa, Phylis Matundura Mogaka and Andrew Makokha Cheng’oli and recovered 10 kg of cannabis and Sh63,335 in cash suspected to be proceeds of trafficking.[1][2] Four people were arrested across the three counties in total.[1][2] The DCI said the operations were part of efforts to dismantle trafficking networks and that investigations were continuing.[1][2]
