The police team was on patrol in Nagrota Bagwan when it received a tip that a man on a scooter was buying and selling drugs.[1] Officers set up a checkpoint on Masal Road and searched the scooter in front of independent witnesses.[1] In the scooter’s storage box they found 261 grams of charas, a hand-rubbed cannabis resin, in a paper envelope.[1] Superintendent of Police Kulbhushan Verma said the charas was recovered from the rider, Kartik, on 27 October.[2]

Kartik, a resident of Tharu village in Nagrota Bagwan tehsil, is about 21.[1] The village lies near the Jalvimbi post office, the police account said.[3] A case, numbered 160/2026 and dated 28 October 2026, was registered against him at Nagrota Bagwan police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, India’s narcotics law.[1] Police took the charas and the scooter into custody.[1] Police said the investigation was continuing.[3]
