The Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement), Islamabad, seized 1,200 kg of charas and about 100 kg of poppy seeds worth an estimated Rs 5.4 billion on the international market in an intelligence-based operation off the M-2 Motorway at about 2:30 am on 2 October 2026.[1][2] The Anti-Smuggling Squad acted on a tip-off about a substantial narcotics movement.[1][2]

Officers also recovered a firearm and a non-customs-paid 2005 Toyota Prado allegedly used to move the consignment.[1][2] The accused sensed the Customs team and fled under cover of darkness; the vehicle and other items were taken into custody.[1][2] An FIR was registered against unknown accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act 1997 and the Customs Act 1969, and the Collectorate is tracing the network behind the shipment.[1][2]
