The court in Turnhout sentenced 34-year-old K.S. from Geel to 20 months in prison for dealing cannabis.[1] He received 20 months in prison, but suspended on condition that he comply with a series of imposed conditions.[1] The man had asked for a community-service order, but the court rejected that request.[1] He stated that he had ordered cannabis several times for his own use and had then acted as a courier a few times because of financial need.[1]

Kempenland police inspectors checked K.S. in Peer on 15 November of last year.[1] He was in the car together with his girlfriend and two minor children.[1] In his wallet police found just under 1,200 euros in cash, an unpackaged user quantity of cannabis in the centre console and a small quantity of cannabis in an empty cigarette pack.[1] A saliva test was positive for cannabis use.[1] Police also seized his car because he was driving despite a driving ban.[1] When the car was towed, police found an Action shopping bag containing several bags of cannabis of 12 to 25 grams.[1]

Later, another batch of cannabis and a large sum of cash were found in his home.[1] Messages found on his mobile phone also pointed to drug dealing.[1]
