Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Narcotics Control arrested four people in the Eastern Province for allegedly promoting hashish.[1][2] Those held were three Ethiopian nationals described as border-security violators and one Saudi citizen.[1][2] Officers stopped the suspects, completed initial procedures and referred them to the Public Prosecution to complete investigations and apply statutory penalties.[1][2]

The Directorate put the hashish seized in the Eastern Province case at 1.1 kilograms.[1][2] It described the Eastern Province and Riyadh actions as two separate security operations targeting hashish and methamphetamine promotion.[1][2] In the Riyadh operation, officers arrested two residents for allegedly promoting methamphetamine (shabu), a non-cannabis drug excluded from this report’s figures.[1][2]

The Directorate urged citizens and residents to report smuggling or promotion through its 995 hotline and email and through 911 in the Eastern Province, Riyadh, Mecca and Medina and 999 elsewhere.[1] The announcement gave the Directorate’s email as 995@gdnc.gov.sa.[1] It said all reports are handled with complete confidentiality and without liability for the informant.[1]
