Düren’s municipal public-order service ran reinforced controls across the city during Halloween night.[1] Early in the evening a patrol checked the playground on Frankenstraße and found four young people there.[2] Officers found that one minor among them was smoking a joint.[2] A follow-up check found cannabis and ecstasy as well as a blank-firing pistol and fireworks on him.[2] Officers called in police for further criminal examination, and police took over the young people and further measures.[2]

Around 0:45 the service was alerted to a loud Halloween party in an apartment building in Nord-Düren.[2] Loud music and partying could already be heard outside the building and night quiet in the stairwell was considerably disturbed.[2] The organiser was told to end the party and send home guests not living in the flat, but he did not comply at first so police were called for support.[2] After police arrived and spoke again with the organiser, about 25 to 30 guests left within about 20 minutes and the party ended.[2] The service described the Halloween night overall as largely quiet, with officers following public tips and intervening in two cases.[1]
