On Saturday, 31 October 2026, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized an ownerless cache of drugs in a special operation at Bilgathua field on the Daulatpur border in Kushtia district.[1] The 47th BGB Battalion’s Joypur Border Outpost (BOP) carried out the search in its area of responsibility at about 3 a.m.[2] A BGB patrol team acted on specific and reliable intelligence before recovering the cache.[1] The seizure comprised 8 kg of cannabis and 175 bottles of Indian syrup.[1]

BGB estimated the total value of the recovered drugs at 98,000 taka.[1] The 47th Battalion said it would continue regular operations and intelligence surveillance along the border to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling.[2] The battalion said these efforts aimed to strengthen border security and establish a border free of drugs and smuggling.[1] BGB announced the recovery in a press release that Saturday afternoon, several hours after the early-morning search.[2] The force described its position against drug trafficking and smuggling as uncompromising.[1]
