A Limassol criminal court sentenced a 28-year-old man to 10 years in prison on 21 October 2026 after he admitted possessing with intent to supply about 8 kg of cannabis and nearly 2 kg of cocaine in a parcel imported from Greece.[1][2]
The anti-drug trafficking police unit YKAN acted on a tip-off about the parcel, which was held at a courier company’s warehouse in Limassol.[1][2] In a controlled delivery the man presented himself as the recipient and was arrested in the act as he took the parcel; laboratory tests showed the cocaine was of particularly high purity.[1][2]
The court said he had acted as a go-between, moving the drugs on a third party’s instructions for payment, and that his role in an organised trafficking operation and the quantities made the offences serious.[1][2] It weighed his guilty plea, his personal and family circumstances and his efforts to overcome addiction, along with a previous conviction for possessing a Class B controlled drug and smoking cannabis, for which he had been fined.[1][2] The sentences run concurrently, and proceedings against his co-defendant were set for a later date.[1][2]
