While on patrol on 13 October 2026, officers of the State of Mexico’s Grupo de Intervención Policial and the National Guard received a report of a vehicle speeding in Tlalnepantla.[1] They tracked it to the México–Querétaro autopista at Ampliación La Quebrada in Cuautitlán Izcalli, where they stopped the car for a preventive inspection.[1][2]

In the trunk and on the rear seat they found plastic bags holding about 81 kilograms of green and dry plant material consistent with marijuana.[1][2] The officers arrested Luis “N”, 28, and Eduardo “N”, 59, after informing them that possessing suspected illicit drugs is a crime.[1][2]

According to preliminary inquiries cited by state authorities, the pair had travelled from Zapopan, Jalisco, toward San Andrés Totoltepec in Mexico City’s Tlalpan borough and expected a cash payment for moving the load, which investigators said might belong to a Jalisco-origin criminal group.[1][2] Quadratin adds that officials are looking at a possible link to the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación.[2]

The suspects, the drugs and the seized vehicle were presented to federal prosecutors in Tlalnepantla to open an investigation.[1][2]
