The Second Naval Zone of Mexico’s navy said it found and burned 15 plots of suspected marijuana south of the municipality of Tecate, Baja California, during standing searches for drug-production sites.[1][2] The plots covered more than 3.8 hectares and held about 800,000 plants, which were incinerated on the spot.[1][2]
On four drying racks beside that crop the navy counted about 663,900 further plants and burned those too.[1][2] The two counts come to 1,463,900 plants.[1] Representative samples were turned over to the Fiscalía General de la República, the federal prosecutor, for the investigation file.[1][2]
The statement names no one arrested and does not give the day the plants were burned.[1][2] El Imparcial’s account, published on 20 October 2026, follows the same navy figures.[2]

- The navy statement gives no calendar day for the patrols; 19 October 2026 is the date Panorama Ciudadano published the account.
- The 3.8 hectares figure covers the 15 standing plots. The four drying sites are not given an area.
- No one was reported arrested, and the plots are not named beyond south of the municipality of Tecate, so the map marks Tecate.
- El Imparcial also republished the burning-pile photograph. That picture is listed once, from Panorama Ciudadano.
