Qasim Tariq, 38, of Gigg Lane, appeared at Manchester Crown Court on October 30.[1]Court records show Tariq pleaded guilty to possessing a quantity of Class A
cocaine with intent to supply and possessing a quantity of Class B cannabis with
intent to supply.[1]The offences are alleged to have taken place in Bury on
August 20.[1]Greater Manchester Police had earlier said Tariq, then described
as of Brandlesholme Road, Bury, had been charged with possession with intent to
supply Class A and Class B drugs.[2]
A separate charge, brought under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, alleges that on
August 26 he acquired, used or possessed criminal property, namely £12,500 in
cash.[1]No plea has yet been recorded in relation to that allegation.[1]Tariq also faces allegations of dangerous driving, driving while disqualified
and driving without insurance.[1]The driving charges allege he drove a grey
Nissan Qashqai on Brandlesholme Road in Bury while disqualified from holding a
driving licence and without valid insurance.[1]A further allegation relates
to the dangerous driving of the same vehicle on Rollesby Close.[1]
Following the hearing, Tariq was remanded in custody.[1]The case was
adjourned until November 27 for a further case management hearing at Manchester
Crown Court.[1]Court records state prosecutors are considering whether to
proceed with some of the remaining allegations in light of the guilty pleas
already entered.[1]At the charging stage he had been remanded in custody for
appearance at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on August 28, 2026.[2]
No quantity or weight for the cocaine or cannabis was published, so no kilograms can be recorded.
No cannabis-only valuation was published; the £12,500 is alleged criminal-property cash, not a drug value, and is excluded from cannabis figures.
The plea account gives October 30 and August 20 without a year; 2026 is inferred from the 28 August 2026 charging account and 4 November 2026 publication.
The plea account gives Gigg Lane while the charging account gives Brandlesholme Road for Tariq in Bury; both addresses are reported as stated.
A failing-to-stop allegation appears in the charging account but not in the plea account, and its outcome is unclear.
No sentence has been reported; the next hearing was listed for November 27 with prosecutors considering the remaining allegations.
